This study tests the application of domestic bleach to temporarily reduce immature Aedes aegypti populations in water-filled containers. This may represent a simple and affordable option to suppress wild mosquito populations prior to undertaking releases of Wolbachia mosquitoes. By first suppressing wild mosquito populations‚ fewer Aedes aegypti releases are required to achieve a sustainable Wolbachia density threshold.
